Awaken, Empower and Hustle

There is an adverb in Spanish that I absolutely love but can never accurately translate in English. The word is realizada, which begs the question: what does it mean to be fully realizada?

For lack of exact translation, let us say that it means to be actualized. To be whole on your own. To take personal responsibility. To be the master of your own decisions, and most critically—to make your own money. This is exactly what my former employer meant when he said to me: “go get your own chips—these are my chips.”

It is no mystery that entrepreneurship drives this country’s economy—it is its heart and soul. So who are entrepreneurs? They are seekers, people who take risks and people who want a better life. They are futurists, innovators and risk-takers. They are not followers, but instead doers who complete and execute. They are active, they are on it, and they are never short on stamina.

But you have to begin with a dream, and to dream genuinely—to really see the prospect of wealth and success for your family—you have to consciously let go of the notion that money is the root of all evil. In fact, right now it is quite the contrary for us: as Latinas, we are currently the emerging economic market in the country. And guess what that makes us? Powerful and empowered. It makes us poised to redefine our financial reality—on our terms.

If you are employed, it’s time to get creative about how to bring more money into the family, so that we can grow into old age with less anxiety and more peace. It’s time to think on a parallel track—one that combines your life mission with your ongoing financial growth, so that you are always keeping the big picture in mind.

My dream is that you will learn how to think like an entrepreneur even as an employee; that you will bring both inspired and tangible opportunities to your family by taking action. With this in mind, The Adelante Movement was created to not only encourage and inspire Latina women towards economic success and empowerment—but to literally hand you the tools and resources to make both happen.

The Adelante Movement will bring Latinas like you information on jobs, government contracts, start-up funding for businesses and franchise opportunities. As the largest economic emerging market in the world, it is time we get the economic power we deserve.

You are now being given the opportunity to join forces, support one another, to look at your fears square in the face, and transform them into personal and collective success. But to do this, you will need equal parts ganas, creativity and every drop of your courage. Remember: this is not an easy road. It’s a long distance run that requires energy, perseverance, and the love of obstacles. I encourage you to make fear and failure as your best friends, and use them as actual tools to propel you to the next level of your potential—a subject I’ll get into more in my next blog entry!

Despertar, Fortalecerse y Avanzar.

Existe un adverbio en español que me gusta mucho utilizar, pero nunca he podido traducirlo al inglés. Se trata de la palabra realizada, la cual nos lleva a preguntarnos lo siguiente: que significa estar completamente realizada?

A falta de una traducción exacta al inglés, digamos entonces que significa estar actualizada en el sentido de haber logrado tus metas, significa tener completo dominio de tu vida, tomar responsabilidad personal, ser la dueña de tus propias decisiones; y más explícitamente, ser capaz de generar tus propio caudal financiero. Esto es precisamente lo que mi antiguo jefe quiso transmitirme cuando me dijo “ve por tus propias fichas de juego, estas son las mías”

No es un secreto para nadie que el sector empresarial dirige la economía de este país, es su corazón y su alma. Pero, quiénes son los empresarios emprendedores? Son aquellos buscadores incansables del éxito, personas que se atreven a tomar riesgos y que quieren una vida mejor para ellos y sus familias. Son visionarios del futuro, innovadores y osados por excelencia. No son los que suelen seguir a otros, sino los que ejecutan y terminan las acciones propias. Son activos en cada momento, siempre enfocados en sus metas y nunca faltos de vigor.

Pero tienes que soñar y soñar en grande para ver realmente el prospecto de bienestar y éxitos que puedes lograr para tu familia; y tienes que apartar de tu mente la idea de que el dinero es la raíz de todos los males.

De hecho, ahora mismo es todo lo contrario para nosotras las latinas: actualmente somos el mercado económico emergente en el país, lo cual nos convierte en poderosas y fuertes y nos coloca en posición ventajosa para redefinir nuestro status financiero, en términos de nuestras aspiraciones y proyectos personales.

Si posees un empleo es hora de tomar iniciativas sobre cómo obtener mayores ganancias financieras para tu familia, de modo que puedas arribar a la vejez con menos ansiedad y mayor paz interior. Es hora de implementar una línea de pensamiento que combine tu misión en la vida con tu futuro crecimiento financiero, de modo que siempre tengas en mente esa idea fundamental que guiará tus acciones.

Mi sueño es que aprendas a pensar como una verdadera empresaria aún cuando seas solo una empleada, de modo que puedas brindar a tu familia oportunidades tanto inspiradoras como reales y tangibles, mediante la toma de acciones e iniciativas de tu parte.

El Movimiento Adelante fue creado no solo para alentar e inspirar a las mujeres latinas hacia el fortalecimiento y éxito económicos, sino para ofrecerte además las herramientas y recursos para que logres tales objetivos.

Nuestro Movimiento te brindará información sobre ofertas de trabajo, contratos gubernamentales, financiamiento para iniciar nuevos negocios y oportunidades de franquicias. Como el más grande mercado económico emergente que somos en el mundo, es hora de que tomemos en nuestras manos el poder económico que nos merecemos.

Te daremos entonces la oportunidad de unir fuerzas, apoyarnos unas a otras, compartir nuestros miedos y transformarlos en éxitos personales y colectivos. Pero para lograr todo eso necesitarás aprovechar al máximo tus habilidades, desplegar tu creatividad y hacer uso de cada gota de tu coraje. Recuerda que no será un camino fácil, es una carrera de larga distancia que te exigirá mucha energía, perseverancia y superación de diversos obstáculos. Personalmente te aliento a convertir tus temores y fracasos en tus mejores aliados y a utilizarlos como herramientas que te impulsen hacia un nivel superior de tus potencialidades, un tema sobre el que abordaré con más profundidad en mi próxima publicación en este Blog.

Realmente es bien fácil: si emprendes las acciones, te conectarás con el mundo financiero, alcanzarás cuantiosos beneficios y dejarás un legado a tu familia e hijos. Entonces, no esperes más, únete a nuestro Tour.

Adelante at NCLR!

I am on my way to the NCLR to speak at The Latina Brunch alongside Suze Orman, who I have long admired. Nothing means more to me than to be economically self-sufficient; and to now be able to share the stage with her, and share our thoughts about economic empowerment for women, is my mission come true.

I am also excited to present all the Latina Leaders that attend The NCLR and a sneak peak at The Adelante Movement Tour, with iconic author Sandra Cisneros discussing the process of finding your voice and your mission; entrepreneur guru, Nell Merlino, on the prospect of writing a business plan for your dream in one page; and myself, talking about the movement, its goals, our plan for the year, the tour and the online community.

BTW- we also have a secret cameo appearance lined up by a woman I greatly admire, and one that is joining the movement....
